Cucumber Pineapple Banana Smoothie
If I’m honest with you, I have to say that this Cucumber Pineapple Banana Smoothie is not one of my favorites. It’s not completely horrible, in fact my husband loves it, but there are definitely others that I prefer the taste of over this one.
The upside of this smoothie is that it has some great potential health benefits. Because cucumbers are about 95% water, they are very low in calories and can help to rehydrate and detoxify the body(1). They are also a good source of Manganese, an essential mineral for normal growth, and healthy bones (The Essential Guide to Vitamins, Minerals and Herbal Supplements). If you leave the skin on when you add cucumber to your smoothie, it will increase the fibre content by about one gram.
Pineapples contain an anti-inflammatory enzyme called Bromelain. Some studies have shown that Bromelain could be effective in treating some cancers(2), and that it may also be effective in reduction of blood clots, which would lead to decreased risk of strokes and heart attacks (Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal).

- 300g / 10.5oz Lebanese Cucumber
- 200g / 7oz Fresh Pineapple
- 2 Medium Bananas
- 1 Cup Unsweetened Apple Juice

- Peel and slice pineapple and bananas
- Add apple juice to blender, then add all other ingredients
- Blend until you achieve a consistency that you like
